Training

Strategy and systems only deliver value when your people know how to use them. We train maintenance planners, engineers, and supervisors in the practical skills that underpin an effective maintenance programme — from work order management and job plan writing to taxonomy design and PM optimisation.

What we deliver

Bluestream training programmes are built around the same methodology we use in our consulting engagements. Every module is grounded in industrial practice — not generic maintenance theory — and designed to produce competency that participants can apply immediately in their own CMMS and working environment.

We deliver training in two main streams: Maintenance Planning & Execution, which covers the work management fundamentals every planner and technician needs; and Taxonomy & Data Standards, which builds the data structuring skills required to set up and maintain a CMMS correctly. Programmes are delivered in-person, remotely, or as a blended format, and can be tailored to your specific platform and operating context.

Training modules

Maintenance Planning Fundamentals
Work order management, job plan writing, parts and resource identification, permit integration, and backlog management — the core competencies of an effective maintenance planner.
PM Optimisation Workshop
Hands-on workshop covering how to review, rationalise, and improve an existing PM programme — interval justification, task quality assessment, and connection to failure data.
Taxonomy & Data Standards
ISO 14224-based equipment hierarchy design, naming conventions, classification codes, and data quality principles — the skills needed to build and maintain a clean CMMS database.
KPI & Performance Measurement
How to select, define, calculate, and interpret maintenance KPIs — schedule compliance, backlog, MTBF, MTTR, wrench time — and use them to drive programme improvement.
CMMS User Training
Role-based CMMS training for planners, technicians, and supervisors — configured to your specific system and workflows rather than generic software walkthroughs.
Reliability Awareness for Operators
Introductory reliability and maintenance principles for operators and technicians — equipment failure modes, consequences of poor maintenance, and the role of the frontline in reliability.

How a programme is structured

01
Skills & gap assessment
We assess current competency levels across your team — through interviews, CMMS data review, or a structured gap analysis — to identify where training will have the most impact.
02
Programme design
A tailored programme is designed based on the gap assessment — selecting modules, setting objectives, choosing delivery format, and confirming practical exercises using your own data.
03
Classroom or remote delivery
Structured instruction with worked examples, case studies from relevant sectors, and group discussion. All materials are provided and participants keep reference copies.
04
Hands-on practicum
Participants apply learning directly in your CMMS or using representative datasets — job plan writing, taxonomy structuring, or PM review — with facilitator support.
05
Competency verification
A structured verification exercise confirms that participants can independently apply the skills taught. Results are documented and can be used as part of your competency management framework.
06
Coaching & follow-up
Optional post-training coaching sessions allow participants to raise real-world questions as they apply their new skills — ensuring the learning actually transfers to day-to-day work.
